About Margie Woods Brown:

Margie Woods Brown was born in 1967 on the Big Island of Hawaii, into a large, dynamic and creative family. She was raised there on a cattle ranch until the family moved to Arizona in 1977. She holds her bachelor's degree in Communication from University of Colorado in Boulder, and her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles, CA.
Margie worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist intern at The Women 's Clinic and Family Counseling Center in Los Angeles, where she was supervised and mentored by Carla Becker, MFT, who continues to be a great source of inspiration. Alongside her experience in the psychology field, Margie has maintained her love of art, and upon moving to Dallas in 2008, opened Language of the Soul (LOTS) studio. Here she combines her passion for art with her interest in healing and emotional growth by offering creative workshops and personal coaching and mentoring. In early 2010 she launched her professional photography business as a branch of LOTS.
Margie's exploration of art began with photography, then designing quirky greeting cards, and eventually also found form in visual journaling, bookmaking and painting. She feels blessed to have studied with and been mentored by incredible artists and photographers along the way, especially Deb Jones, Holly Roberts, Laurie Doctor and her big brother Chris Woods. Their existence as brave artists and teachers continues to inspire her to always strive to deepen her own creative process.
Margie has experienced first hand the enormous healing power of creativity. She strongly believes that the artistic process enhances and encourages psychological growth and healing on many levels. She brings this passion and knowledge to her personal coaching, as well as to her creative workshops, and to her clients as a professional photographer.
Margie lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband, stepdaughter and pets. When not working, teaching, on a shoot, or creating art, she enjoys time with her friends and family, basking in nature, practicing yoga, and sailing. She is also a third degree black belt and certified kyo sa , or instructor, in the traditional Korean martial art, Soo Bahk Do.
